Re_ is a mobile, not-for-profit Landscape Architecture Studio who offer ecosystem based approaches to design, planning and management solutions for land-based problems in communities where they are most required. Our emphasis is on practical solutions and hands on action through a holistic, collaborative approach combining practices and techniques including Applied Ecology and Permaculture.
We focus on innovative, participatory responses to three major, interlinked issues facing the planet today; Soil Degradation, Biodiversity Loss and Climate Change. As has been made clear by scientific research and encapsulated in global policy, the most urgent actions of our time must be to protect biodiversity, mitigate and adapt to climate change, reduce the threat of flooding and drought, ensure food security and provide meaningful employment.
These issues have already begun affecting communities and ecosystems around the world and as such it is necessary that we act quickly to counteract their detrimental impact. We believe rapid progression from planning phases to physical implementation on the ground is imperative to ensure mitigation and adaptation responses are achieved as quickly as possible.
Through a process of collaborative ecological design we aim to facilitate ecosystem-based landscape planning, design and management schemes. We will offer holistic, integrated methods for mitigation and adaptation to climate change, habitat creation and biodiversity protection, ecosystem function regeneration, community empowerment and sustainable livelihood creation
Our services will range from landscape design and masterplanning to landscape restoration strategies, water management and the valorisation and protection of natural resources including water, soil and native seeds and plants.
Our team is nomadic. From the initiation of each project we live alongside communities and work on-site. Being based locally enables us to facilitate the development of a local skill base which will ensure long-term project success and continued innovation of site specific solutions from within the community.
